I had never been to Tallahassee and I was curious but not overly excited. Surprise, surprise Tallahassee is clean with beautiful trees. The State Capital and Florida State University buildings are architectural classics. We were able to tour the Old and the New Capital and also sit in on the Legislature during one of their sessions. Our group called the Golden Choice Recipients was there to be recognized for the Golden Choice Award. We stood for applause from the Senate and I stood proud. It is quite an honor for me to be treated so royally. The Dept Of Elders staff could not have been any more gracious than they were. We had a wonderful dinner at FSU and then received lovely lucite imprinted awards that read “FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE”. Back at home, it looks so lovely on my shelf alongside my other awards. The ride up to Tallahassee along with my colleagues, Caroline, Pat and Lorraine, themselves recipients too, was neat. We were exchanging ideas, critiques and of course shared lots of girl talk. All in all, it was a wonderful time. There was a photographer that promised to send us a brag book of all of our participation’s in photos. I know I will have a bunch. I constantly clowned around so I am looking forward to seeing and sharing them.
