Wonderful Saturday

Some days are better than others and today was a perfect day in every way.  I started this beautiful sunny Saturday doing my Pilates class and cardio, headed home and then readied to meet a friend for lunch.  We had the best Angus beef hamburger at a new place called Hard Hatz cafe.  The inside is all decorated with yellow hard hats on the wall and t-shirts with the logo.  Wonderful friendly staff and great coffee, too.  My friend Sharon and I left after our lunch to see John Davidson at the local college perform.  How many of you  remember him?  He was popular back in the 80’s as a singer and also featured on the Hollywood Squares television show for a few years.  When I tell you this man’s energies, personna and sense of humor belie his years.  He sang a song telling us how he cannot believe his mirror reflecting his grey hair and some wrinkles.  I am only 66 years young this past December he sang and it is so hard to accept.  The adiuence and myself included were surprised at how wonderfully young he looked and acted.  He sang, he played the guitar, ukulele, banjo and ended his two hour show,  singing and acting out the part of “Don Quixote”ending with singing “The Impossible Dream”  It brought tears to my eyes as the audience and I stood to give him a standing ovation.  We purchased his CD and shook his hand as he signed my name next to his.   I am writing this as I listen to his love songs.  What a beautiful day!

  1. My cousin, John, and John D. were in acting class together and acted in some second rate plays as well as a commerical or two together. My cousin went to soaps for a couple or years and you know where John D went on to do. Didn’t John D. do a show called “That’s Incredible” also? I hadn’t heard about him for years, I’m glad he’s still in good voice, I always enjoyed listening to him. I glad that your day was outstanding.

  2. Walk- John did not mention “That’s Incredible” in his accomplishments or I didn’t catch it. He is quite the showman and comic in addition to his great voice. His CD that I purchased has some great love songs from times past. Brings back lots of memories. WIth regard to cruising I can assure your wife that she will not feel any motion sickness on these super sized cruise liners. You almost have peer outside to believe you are moving at all. It is quite an experience and a marvelous way to relax, eat all kinds of goodies (no dishes) and have fun, dance, music and maybe even rock climb or ice skate.
