Back in the late 1960’s I began volunteering at the elementary school and we formed our first Parent Teacher Association. I became Hospitality Chairman and we would have bake sales to bring in monies for the special programs for our children. Cupcakes were the “‘ in thing” back in those days and I would make them 30-40 at a time and decorate with frosting, jelly beans, sprinkles, chocolate shavings, marshmallow. I then started making layer cakes and bundt cakes that turned out pretty good. My luck with making cookies never panned out, they would taste good but not look too much like a cookie.
When I started working, I would bring in brownies for the office once a week and then started making a cake for someone’s birthday. Now I have been retired since 2003 and I am making brownies and cakes for my exercise friends and instructor’s. This past week I made some for my son Joe and froze them until his visit. He recently picked them up but left them in his car overnight and so on his drive to work, he sampled one or two and shared the rest with his peers. The orders are coming in for more brownies with nuts, maybe?
Should I be wearing another hat perhaps!!!!!!!
