Hope everyone is enjoying their day off (hopefully) or at the very least happy at what they are doing! Saturday was a sleep- in day for me and then I tried catching up with my necessary chores (seems endless sometimes).
In the evening, I caught up with an old friend and we went to Leo’s to hear Fifties music. I was a teenager when most of the songs appeared for the first time and “I recall hearing Unchained Melody” in 1951 by Al Hibler. Hearing it sung last night by Leo, brought back many pleasant memories as it didn’t seem like fifty odd years ago that my brother- in- law remarked, that this type of music wouldn’t last (he was from the big bands era) and I had bet him that it would. Yet, here we are in 2009 watching our grandchildren as they listen and dance to these wonderful songs and to top it off , we can understand the words and the meanings. Us young Seniors, can still show them how we cut the rug, doing the Lindy, the Fish and Cha Cha. It was a fun evening of being able to sing along, dance and see my friend Sharon, too.
Right now the beautiful sunshine is beckoning me to catch some healthy Vitamin D rays. Enjoy your day!!
