Figure Skating

This weekend,  figure skating championship skating will be featured on television and I so much enjoy watching the pairs and singles.  I was fortunate a few years ago to see the show in person and I was surprised to see how tiny the skaters are.   They look so trim and toned with the women glowing with personality and the men equally so.  They make the jumps and turns and twirls look so easy but we know how many hours a day in training it takes.  There is total dedication and it shows in their performance.  The music they choose enhances their style of skating and  I will be watching and taping the weekend’s performances to have for the future to watch again and again.  Anyone out there a fan of figure skating?

  1. Hi Millie
I used to be a HUGE fan of figure skating. When my daughter was about 10 years old, she started taking skating lessons. She was talented at it and competed for a couple years until her interests changed. I was spending so much time at the rink in Oldsmar that I started taking lessons too and even taking the tests and competing (I actually won a couple times). It was great exercise and I miss it, but these days I’m too busy with my interior design business to put the time and money into skating anymore. But we used to go to the figure skating shows and it was always thrilling. I still have the large color programs signed by many famous skaters – and I don’t know what to do with them!

  2. Gee, Anne I wish I could see you twirling around on the ice. It is no wonder with your great posture and I am sure it was great fun and exercise. I truly enjoyed seeing it live in Tampa and watching on television. Scott Hamilton has always been a favorite.
