Born and raised in New York I am an avid NY Yankees fan. Throughout the nineteen years living in Florida I still rooted for my team and the wonderful memories of days gone by when my Dad and I would go and sit in the bleachers for fifty cents and see Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, the famous Casey Stengel. I don’t recall the exact year that we graduated to a regular seat but I do recall being there with my husband the day Roger Maris hit his record breaking 61st home run.
Hearing how good our own Tampa Bay Devil Rays are doing triggers memories of days gone by, rooting for the home team. It is nice to hear of a team breaking records, but I am not sure I like them beating my Yankees. So although I am pretty loyal by nature, I don’t think I will give up my Yankees- but it is nice to have a number one team nearby to root for- once in awhile – when they are not playing the New York Yankees.
