Special Times

What a glorious Sunday! The sun is shining brightly and the sky is a beautiful blue with big puffy clouds. Almost hard to believe it is December as I peer out my front door to see if my paper is ready to be picked up. It is waiting with Christmas card attached from the carrier. Paper is heavy with sales from all the stores vying for takers for Christmas gifts. Joe, my son, is staying with me and so we decide we will have scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast, juice and coffee. I must admit having company is nice once in awhile especially when it is a loved one. Living alone is not all peaches and cream. Joe decides that being I have plans with friends on my birthday coming on Tuesday, he would treat me to a movie and dinner today.

This is turning out to be a very special day. We check the movie schedule and plan to go to the 3:30 showing of American Gangster. Two and half hours later walking out of the theater we decided it seemed a little far fetched. It was a true story. The actors Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe were perfectly cast and it was refreshing not to hear any profanities or view nudity. The story line was true to life and the outcome was a little surprising. Starving, we decided to go to a fresh fish restaurant called Bone-fish Grill. I order Mahi Mahi which was delicious with a side of fresh veggies and lightly seasoned rice. Joe ordered shrimp scampi. It was a wonderful way to spend a special time with my son.

Looking forward to my birthday is always a special event for me and being able to spend it with family made it extra-special.
