The Falls that Hurt

There is something to be said about having good balance especially as we age.  It seems  this is becoming a problem for a few of my friends who are becoming arthritic.  In the past few months Judi and Pat have had hip replacements one because of bone loss, the other putting out a garbage can and tripping over the sidewalk.  Another friend broke her wrist as she walked from the valet parking lot towards the sidewalk.  The warning post was missing from the stanchion.  She remarked how painful it was and never realized how much we need and use both hands.

I believe along with my friends that we need to start taking things a little slower and pay a bit more attention to our surroundings.

Climbing ladders, walking with ill fitting shoes or barefoot is dangerous.  Doing yoga helps with balance and lots of vitamin D and sunshine to keep our bones strong.  I am keeping my fingers crossed and being extra careful from now on.  I would much rather be sending fun cards instead of get well wishes.  I love my friends and do wish them a speedy back on their feet, perhaps doing a curtsy.

Super Bowl Fever

Once again Florida is hosting the “Super Bowl” festivities and the excitement is escalating with parties, interviews, special newscasts and just plain fun things to watch and do.  The weather will be a treat for our Northern friends with sunny skies and mild temperatures forecast for Sunday.  I don’t know for certain the weather pattern at this time of the year for our Arizona visitors, but I am guessing they will enjoy our clean, friendly, safe environment.  I for one will not be watching the game itself, but I will be tuning in for half time that is always entertaining.  How many of you  reading this are football fans and who are you rooting for?

Lucky For Me

I found out on Friday afternoon that I was needed by a kindergarten teacher to help with her students.  You would think I had won the lottery as a huge smile covered my face.  I knew in my heart that everything else that I do was not as fulfilling as the time I spend with the children.   Monday couldn’t come soon enough and at 9 in the morning,  I was there chatting with Tammy.  We discussed the seventeen children and how I could best help them.  We set up an area for the supplies I would use and a list of the students.

Tammy called the children together and told them I would be there to help them all day on Mondays and then she glanced in my direction and asked “what should they call me”?  I smiled and said would  you like to call me Ms Millie or Ms ——-(my last name)?   In unison came the answer, Ms Millie.  Tammy and I laughed at the happy faces the children were wearing.  I felt wonderful knowing I have 17 new-cute as buttons five to six year old children to help learn numbers, letters, words.

Some people need diamonds and furs to be happy, I just need children to keep me happy and motivated.  This is my pledge.  I pledge always to help any child I can.

Follow Up

Just had to let you know I am still chuckling over a fine, funny, uplifting comedy that had us rolling in the aisles.  It is just magical what laughter can do for our minds and souls and I am feeling the “magic”.  The cast of five was priceless and so fitted to their roles and I commend each and everyone.  It was a dynamite performance.  Thanks again to Charlie Skelton and his wife Marie for another great show at the Richey Suncoast Theatre………

Afternoon Play

Lucky me! I have a ticket to the Richey Suncoast Theatre to see their latest production “My Husband’s WIld Desires Almost Drove Me Crazy”. It has had mixed reviews that say -only for mature audiences- must have broad sense of humor- too risque. These comments have been told to me by my female friends.

I will reserve my comments until after the show. I am usually broad minded and love humorous situations so I am thinking I will enjoy it. I just hope I am not the only one chuckling as I have a distinct laugh (so I have been told). In any event I am looking forward to the 2:30 performance. Enjoy your Sunday, too.
