Great Day

Brand new design to my website and a new award for my volunteer work with the children has made today a wonderful, happy Monday. In addition to this, it is my first grand-daughter’s twenty sixth birthday and I am feeling nostalgic. The years are going so quickly. It is just a reminder to make every day count and do something for myself, for another and for no reason at all. Just do.

Squish-Squish

My pipes sprung a leak on Easter Morning and I am in a mess of dehumidifiers, wet dry vacuum’s, torn molding, swollen cabinets and brand new carpeting with its pad removed being blown dry.  So I will be off line for awhile and hope you will miss me and check back in a few days or so……MsMillie

Happy Spring

Well, I survived four wonderful days with my grandson keeping him well fed, lots of fun activities, swimming in the pool, showing me his back stroke and diving skills.  We played card games that I thought I had forgotten (War, Old Maid).  I lost both games.  His Dad was able to get tickets to the Phillies Spring Training Game where we enjoyed the sun and the 3 home runs hit by the Phillies players.  Had Chinese food for dinner one night, Italian another and one night I made pork chops, applesauce, roasted potatoes and peas.  Ice cream for dessert.  Joey is a wonderful child with an inquisitive nature, listens well and behaves.  He enjoys the books I have been buying him, “Magic Tree House” series.

He was able to tell me the wrestler’s stats and their names as we watched it on television.  We learn from our grandchildren and have so more patience than we did with our children.  It is  truly wonderful, loving and fulfilling.  I am missing Joey as he left this morning with his Mom to visit other relatives.  Couldn’t ask for a better way to bring Spring in, hopefully I will see Joey in the Summer……Your Nana loves you….

That Ol’ Devil Moon

Have you ever wondered about your moods, sleep patterns at certain times of the month?   I  could hear and see a huge change in peoples actions and voices when I was employed.  Dealing with the public is not an easy feat to begin with.  My employer clued me in about 15 years ago saying that the accident rate increased 3-4 days before and on the full moon.  More crimes are supposedly committed and suicides increase, also.

Personally, I found it true of my own actions but for years prior I always blamed it on women’s hormones fluctuating.   I decided to mark on my calendar if not already noted the day of the full moon and circle the 4-5 days prior.   There I was every month with the mood swings, the wide awake nights 2-3 right before the full moon.   When friends of mine remarked, about not sleeping good, being in a terrible mood, having foot in mouth disease, I shared this tidbit with them.  Circle your calendar and see what happens.  Maybe we can change our thinking ahead of the calendar.  Try it and let me know if it works.  Who did sing that song anyway?

Disappointed and Grateful

I guess I should explain the strange title although it is a typical situation for MsMillie.  My son from up North would be visiting in Florida for a wedding and a small vacation in Miami.  We were planning to be together tomorrow thinking the wedding was on Saturday but the wedding is tomorrow and he is flying home on Saturday.  We haven’t seen each other since Thanksgiving weekend and I miss him bunches.  On the other side of  the picture a year ago tonight,  my other son was visiting me when he had a heart attack right in front of me. Fortunately he survived a triple bypass and is doing wonderful today.  So I am sad, glad and thankful,  that I have been blessed with three super sons.  Mom’s are flexible so they say.
