Making the Grade

Today I completed an online course for beginning writers that had me completing lessons till the wee hours of the morning. I have a better handle on writing with feeling and hopefully creating interest for my readers. Doing this in the confines of my own office is neat, private and fun. At this age, I learned to be disclipined in finishing my assignments on time, keeping my fingers crossed as I took the quizzes at the end of each lesson. My marks were 100% most of the time which I am proud of. Stacked folders are on my desktop holding all my lessons, guidelines and critiques from fellow classmates and my Instructor Ann. This course has inspired me to continue writing every day. I might just be on the best seller list someday.

Living Life My Way

This is my life, yes it is and I find myself saying this over and over as people I meet in my everyday happenings try to tell me their way is the better way or why not do it this way instead of my way? I like the way I do what I do and if I don’t like the outcome, I have no one to blame but myself. It seems when I try to do it someone else’s way, the results are not to my liking. I love my life and the way I live it and plan to enjoy my life my way.

Old Movies

Way back when there was a song called “Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night of the Week” and this is still true for many of us without a date or a friend to spend the time with. I filled my night with an old movie starring William Holden and Jennifer Jones in the famous Love is a Many Splendid Thing. Once again I cried as the Four Aces sang throughout the movie the theme song. It was a beautiful love story in so many ways . They seemed destined for each other but war and his marital status were thorns in the relationship. He was a war correspondent and he had an assignment overseas and is killed. Their meeting place used to be up on a hill top so Sooyen walks back up the hill to relive the moments and she thinks she sees him walking toward her. By now I am sobbing, because I believe true love is a many splendid thing. So much for old movies on a Saturday night.

No More Excuses

How does a parent recognize and accept their child’s behavior and not make excuses for them? How do we guide them in their adulthood to seek help before it’s too late? When do they realize enough is enough and face their lives with honesty? As a parent I love and worship my children and want them always to make the right choices. Yet, I find myself making excuses for a child’s lying, not caring about his life or health. I am starting to believe it is I who doesn’t want to face the reality that I feel I failed. I am at a loss as to how to help him. Do I close the door or accept as is and just pray?

Anyone out there have any suggestions? Love to hear from you.

Dancing Feet

Wow! I so wish my feet would move like theirs do and have a body to match. Wishful thinking for sure but I can dream and I do so every Monday broadcast as I turn my phone off, make myself a cup of herbal tea, and then sit in my recliner waiting for the show to come on. As they strut their stuff down the stairway one looks as pretty as the other. The men are all stunning in their proud presence. As the band plays my feet are moving to the beat and then it begins. One after the other twirling, dipping, waltzing and doing their cha chas I am breathless. I jot down the phone number of who is my choice and wait to call in.

My dream- Someone will create the show for amateurs to dance with the stars. I would be on their list and up there doing my cha cha cha. Would you vote for me?
